Emma Larsson and the Unknown

As with a number of happy discoveries, I cannot recall how I found them (probably instagram) but I did - them being Emma Larsson, aka Zebrakadebra. Boom! Bright swaths of color teased out across the 2d, nearly promising that it could be in the 3rd because the implied texture was so delicious.
Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, Larsson is noted to find inspiration in the wild natural settings of the local archipelago and woodlands. Through Simard Bilodeau, she says:
“If I am asked to describe my work, I can only come up with words such as: liquid, energy, shapes, rhythms, playful, nature’s wonders, curiosity, contemplation, poetry, freedom, meaning, longing, intuition.”
What I love about the experience of seeing her work when it takes over my screen is the presence of something both real and imaginary, fearlessly making its way across a shapeless void. For me, it sounds like the hum of joyful if yet incredulous determinism. Triumphant. Welcome to my blog. I am a sap.
She also has done these delightful responses to fashion shows from the likes of Henrik Vibskov, Ann Demeulemeester and Lemaire, which you can check out on SHOWstudio.

“I am a tireless explorer.... What I am constantly seeking for needs to be unknown to me.”
As we are propelled into a patently vague new future, may we all, despite massive uncertainty, choose to dauntlessly move forward - to survive, to ask for more, to create beauty, do our part to make a better world - even if we don’t understand exactly how or the whole picture. It’s still a time to trust our gut and bet on what we love and what we need to see.
